A Jar of Hope Saves the Day

Posted by: stella on: February 7, 2011

At about 3-4 months old, Jaden developed nappy rashes. At first, we applied the widely used Drapolene Cream. It took a while for me to actually observe that the cream was working. And when it did, I wasn’t exactly happy with it because the rashes never really went away. It subsided, but the affected area was still, well, affected. I stuck to it nonetheless for about 3 weeks, until I was able to bring Jaden to his pedia.

She prescribed another cream, Calmoseptine, because Drapolene supposedly had a lot antiseptic in it which might not be good for Jaden’s super-duper sensitive skin. This cream worked just fine. Its effects were observable after just about 2-3 applications, although there were times the area is still red (but no more visible rashes). My only problem with it was that I couldn’t get a tube of it anywhere! So I had to settle for little sachets which aren’t very economical, not to mention impractical (you can’t re-seal the sachet so may lumalabas na cream! sayang diba?).

Then, on one of my online shopping… uhhhh… errands (yes, errands talaga because I was buying household cleaning stuff then! haha defensive?!), I stumbled upon this:

Meet one of my favorite online discoveries, the Jar of Hope First Aid Gel by Indigo.

The first time I put this in my “shopping cart”, I did so for two reasons: 1) I was in the hunt for an all-natural nappy cream; and 2) I was growing impatient with the redness that recurs from time to time in Jaden’s nappy area despite Calmoseptine (yeah, yeah, I’m OC like that). Oh, and also because the site said the product was a bestseller. Hehehe.

I started out by alternating the gel with Calmoseptine. I’d apply the medicated cream 2-3 times a day, and then I use the gel for all the other nappy changes. It was easily noticeable that whenever I used the gel, there was not a trace of rash or redness. At first I thought it was the “combined effect” of the cream and the gel. After all, it was a natural gel (made of blue chamomile essential oil, aloe vera gel, witch hazel extract, triple distilled water, vitamin E), not a magic gel. But then when I ran out of my kawawang Calmoseptine sachets, I had no choice but to use the Jar of Hope gel for each nappy change. I did so for a day, then 2, then 3… until I realized I had no use for medicated creams anymore because I found my magic gel! (Yes, I’m fully convinced magic gel siya.)

SUPER EFFECTIVE! Jaden has been rash-free since then. Yep, zero rashes, zero redness… thanks to Indigo’s Jar of Hope First Aid Gel :) I highly, highly, highly recommend this to all moms. Not only does the product work in a jiffy, it’s also reassuring that it doesn’t contain any harmful chemicals. I try to limit Jaden’s exposure to chemicals, that’s why I’ve been slowly shifting to organic products. I thought I didn’t have a choice when it came to diaper creams, so it’s a big WOOOOHOOOOOO that I discovered the Jar of Hope. It really does live up to its name! Even their cute tagline is true: “When all things fail, a Jar of Hope saves the day.” Cuteness.

Congrats to the YummyMummies of Indigo Baby for coming up with this product. I’ve bought a lot from their store but so far, this is their best yet :)

Sana maka-imbento din ako ng ganitong product! Hehehe.

The Jar of Hope First Aid Gel is available online at the Indigo website and at Philshopping.com.
